PRES Associates’ core staff members bring a range of skills and experience in research and evaluation to the firm. We also draw from a network of consultants from major research centers across the U.S. to assemble research teams that will best meet our clients’ needs.
Dr.
Mariam Azin
President and Director of
Research & Evaluation
The founder of PRES Associates, Mariam holds a Ph.D. in
Applied Social Psychology from the Claremont Graduate
University. She has over fifteen years of work experience
in the field of educational research and evaluation. Dr.
Azin has been principal investigator on numerous large-scale
evaluation efforts related to curriculum and instruction;
literacy, math and science; career and technical education;
educational technology; professional development; and
at-risk learners. She has particular expertise in design
and implementation of experimental and quasi-experimental
studies in real-world world educational settings; large-scale,
multi-site data collection; development of web-based,
electronic data collection systems; quantitative and qualitative
research methods, and advanced statistical analysis. Mariam
works closely with clients to design the best studies
possible given their information needs and any existing
practical and/or fiscal constraints. Mariam pays particular
attention to communicating the results of studies in a
way that is both useful for clients and user-friendly
for a variety of audiences.

Miriam Resendez,
M.A.
Senior Researcher
Miriam has seven years of experience in evaluation research.
She possesses expertise in quantitative data analysis,
data collection methods, instrument development, database
development, program management, and in writing reports
tailored to various audiences. She also has experience
in the translation of instruments to Spanish, and training
interviewers in the art of interviewing and using culturally
sensitive and competent interviewing techniques. Previous
evaluation work includes evaluating mental health services,
vocational education programs, various educational curricular
products for the elementary, middle, and high school levels,
and a summer youth program for disadvantaged children.
Her project management experience includes overseeing
the daily activities of a $1.5 million research grant
from the National Institute of Mental Health for a study
conducted by the University of California, Riverside and
being the principal investigator for a number of educational
research studies. Miriam holds a Master’s degree in General
Experimental Psychology from California State University
San Bernardino and is completing her doctorate in Applied
Social Psychology from the Claremont Graduate University.

Amy
Blake
Research Associate
Amy
has a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations Communication
from Utah State University. Amy provides support to senior
research staff in the areas of site recruitment, literature
reviews, instrument development, project coordination
and data collection. In addition, Amy has an expanding
knowledge base of statistical programs including SPSS.

Dawn
Morrissey
Research Coordinator
Dawn
holds a BA Degree in German with minors in Political Science
and Linguistics. Dawn is a certified ESL/EFL instructor
with experience in curriculum design, teacher training
and school management. Dawn offers a broad array of professional
experiences to support the work of the evaluation team
including site recruitment, overall project coordination
of multiple yearly randomized control trial studies, instrument
distribution and data management.
